Racist jokes.?

Are racist jokes hurtful? or are they just a joke to be laughed at and forgotten abou?.

If a joke is told about the colour of my skin, religeon, sexuallity, hight etc etc, I really dont get offended.

It should be funny and move on. It is a joke. I don't take jokes seriously about being German.

Depends on if someone is easily offended or not. And it also depends on the intention. Some people will tell what they call jokes just to hurt others truly just mean it as a joke.
they are funny as long as they dont cross the line e.g. jewish holocaust joke are DEFINITLY CROSSING THE LINE but making fun of their "cheapness" (thts just stereotyping, im not racist) is ok
That really depends on the individual. For instance, my niece is overweight and she makes jokes about herself and doesn't appear to be offended when people make jokes about her. On the other hand, my friend, who isn't as large as my niece, gets easily offended when she hears jokes about larger people. So that depends on the indivual and the individual's level of confidence. All black people are not offended by racial jokes especially if the jokes are NOT demeaning in any way or if the jokes don't awaken unsettled ghosts of our past..
I'm blonde and female and I think some blonde/ sexist jokes are funny suppose it depends on the context and the audience?
It depends on the listener.
I think it depends on the person that you are telling the joke to. Someone may not get offended by a joke about their religion, but get offended ove a joke about their skin color.

It's better to just steer clear of the racist/sexist/religious jokes all together...

I'm not offended either, but a lot of people are by them...well considering I'm white..my friends always try to find rascist jokes about white people to make fun of me=] i think they are just a funny thing celebrating how everyone is different. my opinion anyways
depends how the joke is told,or how friendly you are with the guy who says the joke,

if all are laughing and they don't specifically point to anyone you can feel free but then some people intentionally tell the joke and laugh and indirectly tease the other person.
Yeah I agree with you on dat, but my belief is dat racist jokes are said to test if you are easily offended by it

i would say that some racist jokes are taken too far!! all people have different views on jokes! so i say dont say racist jokes it is discrimination
I find racist jokes funny, I myself being black and white find it hilarious to laugh at peoples ignorance, I tell racist jokes...but I intend them to be funny , but some people try and use them to put people down, I disagree with that and will confront them when that is their aim, otherwise it dosent bother me one bit.
They're okay as long as the circumstances are appropriate. They don't bother me, actually, the racist joke I laughed hardest at was about my own race.
i think it is only appropiate to use those type of jokes with people that know u well, and not ppl that dont know u well.
well it depends who your saying it to, white people tend to take it light - hearted , while asians and blacks seems to make a stir out of it, and it doesnt seem to matter when white people are offended anyway....

It is ok telling an irish joke in a pub with an irish guy you know very well, but telling the same joke here may cause offense.

I agree a joke is a joke, but then I am open minded and have never been the subject of abuse or attack for my skin colour of religion.
i am British white and my daughter is British white and British black, i would be offended if some one told me a joke about black people, but i like the English man Irish man and Scottish man jokes. i wonder if they would be offend?
it really depends on the joke, and the way its told because some people try to be funny but it ends up going the wrong way.

only a select few comedians can accomplish a good race joke.

oh and i wouldnt call it "racist jokes" they are called "race jokes"

oh and another thing, its wrong if u tell a race joke to a room full of your own race because then it just seems like ur bashing the race ur talking about.
there are al lot of people on here who get upset i know. i was once told to jump off a bridge and die.. my crime, i told a "racist joke" my son in law is black and he told it to me.. I am white....so what...it was a joke.... i agree with ya....
